Dead men can’t love.
Former drug trafficker Richmond “Lucky” Lucklighter “died” in the line of duty while working off a ten-year sentence in service to the Southeastern Narcotics Bureau, only to be reborn as Simon “Lucky” Harrison. The newbie he trained, former Marine Bo Schollenberger, is now his partner on (and maybe off) the job. It’s hard to tell when Lucky doesn’t understand relationships or have a clue what any sane human is doing in his bed. Bo’s nice to have around, sure, but there’s none of that picking-out-china-together crap for Lucky.
While fighting PTSD, memories of a horrid childhood, and a prescription drug addiction, Bo is paying for his mistakes. Using his pharmacy license for the good guys provides the sort of education he never got in school. Undercover with his hard-headed partner, Bo learns that not everything is as it seems in the world of pharmaceuticals.
When a prescription drug shortage jeopardizes the patients at Rosario Children’s Cancer Center, it not only pits Bo and Lucky against predatory opportunists, but also each other. How can they tell who the villains are? The bad guys don’t wear black hats, but they might wear white coats.

My Review:Whew, at times this was a really difficult book to read. Lucky is floundering. He's never had a real relationship and the idea of being in one petrifies him. For the most part, Bo has always been pretty patient with that fact and understanding with Lucky. But as time moves on and things should be progressing within their relationship, he's becoming less patient and understanding. He wants a future, but that isn't a possibility with a guy who won't even consider them to be in a partnership.
To complicate things even further is their case. They are working in a childrens' cancer hospital which is having to go to extremes to get their patients the medicines they need to keep them alive. Both guys have their moments of difficulty over this...kids are dying. Bo is the more sensitive of the two and he definitely takes ALL of it much harder. Those feelings of helplessness are definitely causing more cracks in their relationship too.
This is such a good series. Lucky's not an easy guy, but the books are told entirely from his POV, so you have insight into what he's thinking that's invaluable to understanding and loving his character. But even though you don't have that same insight into Bo, he's a guy who wears his heart on his sleeve. He loves Lucky so much.
This is romantic suspense and as such, there is a lot of action and I loved that. Regardless of what else is going on in Lucky's life, he's grown so much from his criminal days. His priority is the mission and catching the bad guys, even at the risk of his job. This is a high emotion case and even though it doesn't seem like it a lot of the time, he's a guy who becomes deeply committed to something once he does let his emotions get involved. It just can take a bit more for him to commit those emotions. This case touches him.
The books are high-octane and I will warn you right now, once you begin reading, I hope you have a chunk of time to commit, because you aren't going to want to put it down again until the final page. Great romantic suspense and the added m/m relationship is an added bonus that makes me LOVE this series!

Collusion Diversion Book 2 edition by Eden Winters Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
While not quite as action packed as the first book, this sequel didn't fail to deliver an awesome read. 4 stars!
I really enjoyed Diversion and this sequel was even better. How can anyone not love Lucky? Cynical, irascible with all his thorns - Lucky is still one of my favorite characters of all time. Like Diversion there was a real mystery and story to the book, a plot that made me think. But best of all was finally finding out what happened with Lucky and Bo. I read a lot of the M/M stuff but this is my first review, the book was just too good to pass giving an opinion.
Ms. Winters is obviously a very talented and capable writer. I appreciate her characters, their realistic development, plot, setting, everything. My feedback sucks, so let me just say I truly enjoyed Diversion and Collusion, and that I hope she is working on a third story about Lucky, Bo, Walter & Co., at SNB.
Thank you!
This second-in-the-series really sold me on the series. After a shaky start to the series in book one, this one is engaging. Full of tension and conflict, the reader is pulled through the story by the action. The story grips you, and makes you want to find out what happens next.
Great follow up to Diversion. Lucky and Bo are back as partners on and off work. Lucky has developed feeling for Bo, which he would never admit to even to himself. The case they are working on in this book is heartbreaking since it deals with sick kids and Bo and Lucky get in deeper than they should get involved in any case. We get to see the tender part in Lucky's personality, which hardly ever comes out except where Bo is concerned. As always the humor and sexiness are present in the story line.
I love this series ~ it's got two MC who are both a little broken, finding their way to each other. Excellent plots with unique content. Then there is the subplots and supporting characters -- Walter, the all knowing, Kieth the PIA, and even a unique chair!
These stories will keep you entertained!
5 stars
I seem to be reading a lot of sequels lately. The last one I read was dreadful, more soap opera than serious MM romance.
Fortunately, this book is not one of those. A totally worthy successor to "Diversion", "Collusion" continues Ms. Winters' remarkable way with action/adventure while serving up a pair of heroes who seem to grow with each outing.
This book tackles a serious subject - the scarcity of life-saving drugs that drives their prices to the stratosphere (when they can be obtained at all) putting them outside the reach of all but the rich or the very heavily insured.
It makes a powerful point that most of the scarcity and the grey-market that feeds on it are perfectly legal - and yet people still die as more and more middlemen make obscene profits on limiting access to critical pharmaceuticals.
Combine that with the growing-up of Lucky and his ultimate acceptance of love and you have a book that evokes laughter, anger and, at times, tears.
Kudos to Ms. Winters for an extremely well-written book - a sequel well worth reading.
