That is how I await each new book by this author. As another writer stated, she has shown her infinite writing ability writing mysteries, in "A Very French Affair" the author takes the reader from overcast England to the playground of South France. Not only does she capture you with the "affair" she craftily incorporates tidbits of history into her writings. A fast read as I was captured from the beginning and of course everything else stopped until I was turning the last page.Product details

A Very French Affair Affair Series Book 1 eBook Faith Mortimer Reviews
This book, as the name suggests, is the story of an Englishwoman's affair with a Frenchman, an affair that had surprising repercussions, not just for Margaret, the woman involved, but also for me as a reader. It begins as a fairly ordinary story of Margaret's break-up with her fiancé and her attraction to, and subsequent liaison with Jean, the Frenchman. Jean has a wife and a two adult children, but says that he and his wife are husband and wife in name only and, since he is a good catholic, so long as Margaret handles the contraception, they can have their affair.
Trouble is, Margaret wants a baby and her dreams of family bliss with Jean don't work out. There's more, of course, but I can't tell you without spoilers.
Mortimer is an expert at plot and pacing. The story moves seamlessly along without extraneous baggage and with a good dose of tension. I had the feeling for a long time that something was going to happen, and the story did not disappoint. What did disappoint, however, was the prose. It wasn't bad, but it was too much on the telling rather than showing side of things, so I always felt somewhat removed from the action. More immediate prose would give this story a lot more power and impact.
On a positive note, however, the main character was well fleshed out and the story makes a clear statement about how wrong our fantasies and expectations can be.
All up, the book is worth a read, and when Ms Mortimer takes her pose to the next level, she will be a mighty author indeed.

A Very French Affair is a captivating and heart-wrenching story of love and loss by Faith Mortimer. The author's graceful writing style draws you into this story with lush attention to details of the French locale, making you feel like you are in France with her main character, Margaret Browning.
Margaret is devastated when her fiancé, David, dumps her for another woman who he got pregnant. Looking to make changes in her life, Margaret takes a temporary position at a resort in France. While working, she meets Jean-Paul Boudin and is instantly attracted to him. Jean-Paul is a charismatic man and also a successful businessman. Attracted to Margaret, Jean-Paul pursues her even though he is married. Accepting that Jean-Paul is in a loveless marriage, Margaret begins a heated affair with the man who is the love of her life. Their sexual chemistry is combustible, and their bedroom scenes are steamy hot and filled with passion. I was drawn to this couple for some reason even though I don't support extramarital relationships But, I needed to know how this relationship was going to end.
With beautiful prose, vivid characters, and stunning plot twists, A Very French Affair is an enthralling story that will keep you fully engrossed right up to the dramatic conclusion that will haunt you long after the last word is read.

Another wonderful book by Faith Mortimer! I truly felt I was in France with her, very well written. Faith is a very talented author and takes her readers on a whirlwind journey until the very end! Looking forward to the next book.
I had hoped that this book would have some mystery and intrigue--not being a fan of romance novels. Thank goodness, this story is fast paced and lets the reader escape to the beautiful and charming coast of France. Unfortunately, much of it is predictable, like a Lifetime movie.

I was eagerly awaiting another novel by this author, so I downloaded it immediately when it was available for my . I was not disappointed. This is a wonderful romance story with twists and turns that make it a fun read with lots of passion and some heartbreak along the way. Another wonderful book by this author.
This book did not unfold as I had imagined it would. I was hooked on the well told story and did little else this Sunday.
Faith Mortimer has written a compelling tale of Margaret who up set over her lover takes a job in the south of France. Faith's description of the area makes you feel like you are really there with warm memories of the district. Margaret meets a married Jean and their affair is much of the book. The ending had me in tears but it was the only way for the plot to go.
